My Rufe Moren (b1864; OK/TX - d1904; Montague,TX) was half Comanche (of the Penateka band) and his father is believed to have been a french fur trader. Oddly though, I have found their name spelled several different ways but not in the usual misspellings such as those previously mentioned. Such as, Rufe's sister Becky Jane's birth certificate lists her surname as "Morning" while that same birth certificate lists her father's name as Bill "Morely." Then there's her marriage certificate that lists her maiden name as "Morren" married James Earl Easter (Johnson County, TX). It's getting so confusing and difficult to keep up with because as you may surmise there are several different soundex numbers to look for in a census.

I still have not located their father in Texas. If any one has any information that may lead me to another clue or sibling relations of Rufe and Becky Jane, please shed some much needed light.
