I am aware of earlier posts regarding a Thomas Morrell, age 63 (bn c1787), in the 1850 SullivanCo census. The following deed indicates there was an even older Thomas Morrell in SullivanCo. The following mention of Thomas would indicate he was born before 1780 if he owned land in 1801. If Thomas bn 1787 was the son of the older Thomas, the older Thomas would likely have been born before 1767.

This Indenture made the 7th day of December 1801 Betwen [sic] Sarah Shown of the one part & William Hatcher of the other part Witnesseth that the sd Sarah Shown for the Valuable Consideration of 200 Dollars to her in hand in hand [sic] paid by the sd William Hatcher hath bargained & Sold Given and Granted & Doth by these presents bargain Sell Give and Grant to the sd William Hatcher a certain tract or parcel of Land Containing ninety Eight acres be the Same more or less lying & being in Sullivan County & Bounded as follows to wit Begining at white oak Thomas Morrells Corner at the foot of the Nobs & Runing thence South 27 west 76 poles to a white oak on the Spur of the Nobs Sout 70 West 42 poles to a dogwood by a feild [sic] South 35 west 36 poles to two Beaches by a Branch by a Rocky Spur by a field thence as it manders Down the Branch, the Several Courses to a white oak Corner tree on the Side of a hill North 24 East 187 poles to a Stake Near Thomas Moralls line & with the Same to the Begining Containing 98 acres Sarah Shown Do by these presents Give & Grant to the sd Wm Hatcher his heirs & assigns forever & from & against all persons Claiming the Same in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed by Seal the day & date above Written.

State of Tennessee Sullivan County February Session
18th day the Execution of the within deed was proven in open Court by oath of Thomas Morrell a Subscribing thereto let it be Registered.
