Donna: Tangled is a pretty good description of this family! I was very interested to see that Cornelius ended up in Terre Haute, IN...which is where my people still are from that line. I am assuming that Nancy gave her rights over to Henry's land and moved into IL...but at what point in time, I don't know. I have seen Mosbys all over the place in MO and figured they were all tied in somewhere but wasn't sure where. As to Dory Neil's guardianship of the Mosby children, it was common at that time that when the father died, the children were granted a guardian, even if the mother was still alive, to ensure financial stability. This could possibly be the case, but am just guessing at this point. As far as the archives are concerned, that is a very generous offer! If I could just find out WHERE Nancy Mosby/Lacy (nee Berry) went after the 1850 census until 1880, that would be a big help!
