John, Littleberry and Wade Mosby KY

In 1781 Major John Mosby purchased several Virginia Treasury warrants for land in Kentucky. By 1785 those lands were surveyed in the name of John Mosby's heirs. In 1787 the land was patented in the name of Littleberry Mosby, Jr. heir at law of John Mosby. Who is John Mosby and how is he related to Littleberry? In later land sales Wade Mosby sells the land and later still Susannah relinquishes her dower rights. In Fleming county alone, John Mosby had 40,000 acres of land. I am working on land records in Fleming county and wonder why the land went to Littleberry Mosby. Thanks for any help.
