From the viewpoint of the Myers family of Ft Myers in Lee County Florida the Singleton name came from the Van Buren family of Abraham Van Buren's wife Ann Singleton a cousin of Dolly Madison. I have my own idea how this connects via the families of Pocahontas County VA.

Most researchers say away from the Mosby line because John Singleton Mosby's brother William Harrison Mosby was married to Lucy Booth.
