Thanks so much for for the references!
I think we may both be searching for the Daniel Moseley who pops up frequently in Prince Edward Co. records. My speculation is that he was the son of Thomas Moseley/Jane Stoner, born about 1759 probably in Powhatan County. This Daniel was supposedly married three times: (1) Sarah Unknown, no issue; (2) Mary "Polly" Wilson, and possibly (3) Mary Unknown, married circa 1828?However, the history of this Daniel seems to be very sketchy. Most of my information came from a family bible included in LDS film #0855039(Moseley Bible, owned by Mrs. Amanda (Moseley) Wood of Russellville, Kentucky; Bible was the property of Daniel Moseley, Jr., inside of front dated 1849).The Bible states that Daniel Moseley was a major in the Revolutionary War and a colonel in the War of 1812, which is hard to believe if not impossible, and I have found nothing to substantiate this claim. No birth date is given for Daniel. His death date was July 13, but the year was apparently torn away. The bible primarily gives the descendancy for Daniel Moseley's son James (1798-1843), who married Nancy Lewis Moseley (daughter of Spotsford Lewis Moseley and Mary Marshall of Powhatan/Buckingham Co.).
In addition, this Daniel Moseley is believed to have married a third time (Mary Unknown) and fathered several more children, some into his old age.He is thought to have moved to Clay Co., Kentucky (his brother Thomas had inherited land in Ohio Co., Kentucky) and is listed on p. 114 of the 1850 Clay Co. census at the age of 80, with wife Mary and several children. This wife and children are not mentioned in the Moseley Bible described above.
However, using the bible as a resource (and adding the 1850 census info), I pieced together the following tentative lineage of the children of Daniel Moseley.

TAX, CENSUS, AND LAND RECORDS
1. The 1783 Powhatan County tax list shows a Daniel Moseley (p. 59).
2. By 1810 there are no Daniel Moseleys in Powhatan, but he shows up in Buckingham County on p. 812 of the 1810 census, listed as an estate, with 2 males under 10, 2 males 10-16, 1 male16-26, 1 male 45+; 2 females 16-26.Close neighbors were John Harris, Judith Bransford (Branford), James Couch, and James T. Hubbard (Hubbard is another name that I am researching).
3. By 1820 the Daniel Moseley entry in the Buckingham Co. census (New Canton District, p. 44) is still listed as an estate.(Don't know what this means.) In 1820, this household reported 1 white male under 10; one white male 16-26; one white male 26-45.Females included a girl 10-16 and a woman 16-26. Neighbors were John C. Watkins, Silas Watkins, Isham Gilliam, Olive Branch.
The 1820 Buckingham Co. census also lists a Daniel MOZELEY (indexed incorrectly as MAZELEY}, p. 55, New Canton District. The household included 1 male 26-45 (born no earlier than 1785); one daughter under 10; one female 26-45 (wife?); one female over 45 (mother or mother-in-law?).This may have been the son of the Daniel Moseley above.
On 10 Oct 1820, Stephen Routen was granted 25 acres in Buckingham County that "...adjoins the land of Daniel Moseley." [University of Virginia Digital Library, Land Grants database]
DISTRICT COURT RECORDS
Prince Edward County was the site of the District Court for several counties, including Buckingham, during the latter part of the 1700s.I found references to Daniel Moseley in these records as follows (Reference: Virginia's district courts, 1789-1809 : records of the Prince Edward District : Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Halifax, and Prince Edward counties : (wills to 1829, deeds to 1816), abstracted by Mary Bondurant Warren and Eve B. Weeks]
1. 1792, included in list entitled "Taken from Ledger 1792," (I don't know what this list referred to)
2. 1793, sued for debt in Buckingham County by Martin Smith ["Note signed 7-16-1793 by Daniel Moseley showed that both men were then of Prince Edward Co., see p. 144 Warren/Weeks]
3. 1796, served as justice in jury trial (Flippin v. Page]
4. April 1802, listed in Attendance Book for 1 day's travel, 19 miles
5. September 1802, listed in Attendance Book for 2 days' service, 19 miles travel
This is probably far more than you wanted to know about Daniel Moseley (and it may not be correct, or there may indeed be more than one Daniel Moseley involved here)-- but it's all I have.Your reference to Lewis Watt Wade provides another clue!I am particularly interested in Daniel Moseley's wife Mary "Polly" Wilson. If my speculations are correct, Daniel and Mary Wilson Moseley may be my direct ancestors.
Please let me know if you find additional information about this family! Thanks so much for posting.
