Dear Rebecca,
What fun to communicate with unknown cousins !
I live in Warwickshire, England. The cousin I referred to with the portrait etc is Michael Moseley and lives in Windsor, Berkshire.
I have not really got going on any proper research. As you probably know, Irish research tends to be a bit tricky because of their national sport of setting fire to buildings at the drop of a hat. Many of their records went up in smoke when the Four Courts in Dublin where destroyed in 1923. My daughter was at Trinity College, Dublin so I spent a couple of hours in the National Library when I was there on the Doyles, but to no effect.
I suspect that it would not be too difficult for me to trace back beyond Francis Moseley with a little time.
You probably know that Alfred Edwin went to school at Kings College School, Strand, London from 1864 to 1866 along with his 3 eldest brothers, but not the 2 youngest.
I have a copy of his admission entry to the school.
I am sure you also know about Sandy Cay, the Moseley island off Nassau. I have a painting of that here which I suspect was done in the 1920s.
There are still Moseleys in the Bahamas for sure, because I know that Michael's sister lives there. One day I,too, would like to visit and research ( if only the rum !)
