I belong to the Moseley FTDNA test group working on various white Moseley lines. My own Moseley line is from Brunswick County, VA, and seems to go back to Jonathan Moseley who had children born in the 1720s and 1730s. If you happen to descend from a white male Moseley ancestor from Brunswick County, it is very likely that a current male descendant in your direct male line would match with our DNA. But if your ancestors took the Moseley name without a blood tie, there would be no DNA match. You can Google Family Tree DNA and the index there will direct you to the Moseley surname group. So far as I am aware, all who have tested thus far are white Moseleys.

Of course I had to use the DNA test of a Moseley cousin for this study as I am not from a direct Moseley male line. Good luck in your search.

Joseph Moore
