John James Trabue Moseley was born January 07, 1766, Near Moseley Junction, Chesterfield County, Virginia, to Robert Peter and Mary Magdalene (Guerrant) Moseley. He married Elizabeth Ann Bondurant Maxey (born February 13, 1776, Cumberland County, Virginia) on October 12, 1791, in Powhatan County, Virginia.

The Moseleys were among the early immigrants of Kentucky, settling in Jessamine County on Clear Creek near the town of Keene in 1796. John's name was first found on their county tax records in 1800 with 200 acres on that creek.

Elizabeth & John had 9 children; their last child was born February 1811. Elizabeth died between 1811-1812 in Jessamine County, Kentucky.

John then married Frances Smith (born September 27, 1789, Fayette County, Kentucky) on October 18, 1812, Jessamine County, Kentucky. Frances and John had 12 children (9 survived). Frances died April 05, 1859, Jessamine County, Kentucky.
