All, If you are a surviving Moss or descended from a Moss on the paternal or maternal side of your family PLEASE contact me regarding a EXTREMELY RARE Genetic condition that has recently been identified in this blood line. The Halifax County, North Carolina Moss family is where I have gotten so far but any Moss descendant could be at risk. I have not been able to determine when this genetic condition entered the blood line. My research has traced this disease back hundreds of years and all descendants of the Moss family are potentially affected. This disease is called SCA6 and it is a debilitating neurological condition that has only been identified for a few years. It is dominant and children of people affected by this disease have a 50/50 chance of having it. It can strike anywhere from 30 to 70 years of age and appears to affect the Moss family in the later years of life. Members of your family who have previously been diagnosed with diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Palsy, and other movement disorders could have been misdiagnosed. I am gathering information for a study conducted by the Ataxia Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. I am not affiliated with either but I am doing my best to get as much information to these parties about the Moss family as possible in hopes of advancing treatment and eventually finding a cure. It is very important that genetic testing and counseling be considered. Please contact me. Yours, Marshall Evans Notify Administrator about this message?
