Robert Motheral - Anne Porter

I've been researching my family line for the benefit of my 2 1/2 year old (named Finnegan, for complicated reasons). I initially encountered some difficulty in distinguishing the Robert Motheral mentioned widely (who married Elizabeth -> George Modrell, Adam et. al.) from my own ancestor, also named Robert Motheral, both born in the early 1720's in Ireland. The patriarch of the Modrell line lived in Chestnut Level, Lancaster County, PA; while my ancestral Robert lived in Lancaster Township, Chester County, PA. The two families complicated matters even further by moving more or less simultaneously (that is, ~1760) to North Carolina - the Modrell line to Mecklenburg County, and my own line to Orange/soon-to-be Caswell County (then called "Precincts"). Not uncommon, really, for a group of Presbyterian countrymen. My own GGGGGG-Granpoppa Robert married an Ann Porter (later Grier), and my line went then to Wilson Co. Tennessee, then briefly to Alabama, and ultimately wound up in western Kentucky (until me and mine, at any rate). I have my own paternal lineage (and, therefore, Finnegan's) fairly well plotted out, along with several cousin-lines - though only so tangential and deep as interest and novelty has justified. Anyway, I'd be glad to share any info (or just regards), and would be very interested in any gen-pursuits in the British Isles (Ireland or Scotland) which would shed any light on the pre-American origins of the Motheral family.

Thanks for all the leached info from the genforum and from web-based geneologists, generally -
