I believe I have information on your father's birth family. My Grandfather's half-sister was Hildreth Greenlee. Hildreth married Emmerson Burgess in August of 1933. Together they had four children: Marjorie, Judy, Richard and Emmerson. In February of 1940, Hildreth was bathing Judy, then 8mos, when her robe caught fire. She suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns over 50% of her body and the hospital wouldn't keep her because the family had no money or insurance to pay. While Emmerson and Hildreth's mother, Eva Wallace Henson were setting up the house to bring her home, Hildreth died. Emmerson couldn't care for the children himself so his mother adopted Marjorie, his sister adopted Judy and the two boys went to the Davis-Stuart home or orphaned children in WV. It was my understanding that both boys were adopted by the prominent lumbar family, Frank Mower. I think that your father could have been Richard or Emmerson Burgess before he was adopted by the Mowers.
