Derrick Sheldon Ray, 13, died June 7, 2008, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. He was born Nov. 3, 1994, in Corinth to Timothy and Carla Jones Ray. He was an eighth grader at Kossuth Middle School. He was a member of the Community Tabernacle Church. His hobbies were playing football, collecting cars, watching movies, watching NASCAR racing and watching monster truck shows. He loved his animals.
Services were at the Community Tabernacle Church in Corinth with burial at Bethlehem Cemetery in Walnut. Corinthian Funeral Home in Corinth was in charge of arrangements.
Survivors included his mother, Carla Chapin of Corinth; his father, Timothy Ray (Sharon) of Walnut; one brother; two sisters; one stepbrother; two stepsisters; his grandparents, Jeremy and Gladys Jones, both of Corinth, and J.R and Marcell Ray, both of Walnut; his great-grandparents, Donald and Vera Crum, and Nacy Irene Jones, all of Corinth; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Johnny and Daisy Ray, James and Lura Luna, and Curtis Jones; his stepfather, David Chapin.
