Herman Smith, 91, died June 14, 2008, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was a retired farmer and timberman. He attended Overton Hill Church. He enjoyed coon hunting.
Services were at Community Pentecostal Church with burial in the church cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home of Corinth was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included three daughters, Shelby Jean Jones, Lena Faye Stanley and Polly Ann Mathis, all of Walnut; two sons, Ted Owens Smith of Leland, Ill., and Donald Anderson Smith of Walnut; one brother, Hershel Lee Smith of Corinth; grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Gossett Smith; his parents, Johnny and Ruth Smith; grandchildren, John Jones, Andy Smith, Davie Stanley and David Smith; and great-granddaughter, Ashley Jones.
