Hortense Sims, 78, died July 5, 2008, at Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was born on Nov. 1, 1929, in Corinth to Boyd and Velma Roach. She was a housewife and a member of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and talking and loved her grandchildren.
Services were at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Corinth with burial at Forrest Memorial Park.
Survivors included two sons, Morris Sims (Marilyn) and Mike Sims (Dottie), both of Corinth; one daughter, Judy Vopelak of Illinois; two sisters, Ruthie Roach Goode Fleming (David) of Corinth and Linda Petty (Bill) of Horn Lake; two brothers, Donald Roach (Linda Faye) and Danny Roach (Drenda); seven grandchildren, Michelle Shelly (Sam), Shawn Sims, Sherry Benjamin (Rickey), Buster Harill, Mary Frazier (Trevor), Jennifer Johnson and Vickie Leonard; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieves and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Sims; her parents; one son-in-law, Edward Vopelak; her sister and brother-in-law, Carlean and Elbert Harvey; one niece, Donna Harvey.
