Billy Joe Gentry, 73, died July 17, 2008, at Kirby Pines in Memphis, Tenn., following his battle with many health issues. He was born on Feb. 20, 1935, in Middleton, Tenn., to Frank Leon and Mattie Barnett Gentry. He was united in marriage to Bertie Lee Brock on June 3, 1953, in Walnut. He was a Methodist. He retired to his farm in Walnut after 41 years of service with Procter and Gamble as a Lab Tech.
Services were at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Harmony Cemetery.
Survivors included one son, Billy M. Gentry (Bernita) of Olive Branch; two sisters, Pauline Buchanan of Memphis, Tenn., and Carolyn Gentry of Corinth; one brother, Charlie Gentry (Pat) of Cordova, Tenn.; one grandson, Brandon Kyle Gentry of Olive Branch; and special friend, Jeanne Fry of Walnut.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Lee Brock Gentry; his parents.
