Doris Plaxco Grimes, 77, died April 19, 2009, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center. She was a native of Alcorn County. She was a member of Wheeler Grove Baptist Church and a former sales associate with the Alco Store and Gibsons. An experienced seamstress, she enjoyed sewing, and gardening vegetables and flowers.
Services were at McPeters Funeral Home. Minister Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors included her husband of 56 years, John W. Grimes of Corinth; one son, John W. Grimes Jr. (Sandra) of Byhalia; two daughters, Gale Parker (Keith) of Dayton, Tenn., and Mary Moore (O’Neal) of Michie, Tenn.; one brother, Roy Plaxco of Corinth; one sister, Elsie Grimes of Corinth; seven grandchildren, Dewayne Humphrey, Kaleb Sanders (Genny), Lacy Emmons (David), Shandal Maxedon (Blake), Andrea Whitten (Clark), Michelle Accettura (Jeremy) and Josh Grimes; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter B. and Ella Jackson Plaxco; two brother, J.M. Plaxco and Gene Plaxico.
