Jean Vassar Anderson, 84, died April 29, 2009, at Dogwood Plantation Assisted Living. A native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., she was the daughter of J.W. and Armalee Vassar. She moved with her family to Corinth at the age of 8. She was a 1943 graduate of Corinth High School and she attended Judson College in Marion, Ala. She married William Logan Anderson in 1948. She worked for Fadra Dodd, Jerry Moore and Joe Caldwell in the Circuit Clerk’s office and spent a total of 40 years in service to her community. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, where she was church organist for 42 years.
Services were at the First Baptist Church with burial in Henry Cemetery. McPeters Funeral Directors was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included two daughters, Karen Timmons (Danny) and Kathi Irwin (Tommy), both of Oxford; grandchildren, Anderson Hunter Timmons of Oxford, Kathryn Gatewood Timmons of Corinth, Elizabeth Whitney Irwin of Southern Pines, N.C., Thomas Clayton Anderson Irwin of Chapel Hill, N.C., and William Jackson Irwin of Oxford.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Logan Anderson; a brother, John Vassar; and her parents.
