Faye Woodruff Brown, 71, died May 3, 2009, at Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Corinth. She was a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church and worked for the Glen and Rienzi post offices for 32 years, serving part of that time as Postmaster. She was the first female to ever serve as a window clerk at the Corinth Post Office and the first female to deliver mail as a walking city carrier. She married William Floyd Brown on Aug. 1, 1956. She enjoyed decorating her home, cooking and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Services were at Magnolia Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Corinth with burial in Indian Springs Cemetery.
Survivors included her husband of 52 years; a son, William Terry Brown (Brenda) of Glen; daughters, Pamela Harmon (Robin) of Corinth and Kimberly Hardwick (Keith) of Burnsville; grandchildren, Tanner Harmon, Justin Harmon, Nick Brown, Corey Johnson Brown, Hillary Hardwick and Hannah Hardwick; a great-grandchild, Alaila Jade Harmon; sisters, Louise Bain of Burnsville, Dorothy Oakley of Booneville and Jean Blasingame of Booneville; a sister-in-law, Doris Woodruff of Corinth; brothers, Jack Woodruff of Burnsville and Elder Cecil Woodruff (Willa) of Corinth; and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, J.W. Woodruff; her mother, Dena Burcham Woodruff; brothers, John Roscoe Woodruff and Homer Ray Woodruff; sisters, Leon Emerson and Lillian Childers; brothers-in-law, Wimpy Emerson, Thurston Bain, Smith Oakley, Jack Blasingame and Millard Childers; and sisters-in-law, Gladys Woodruff and Nona Woodruff.
