Louise Kirkland Brooks, 89, died May 16, 2009, at her residence. She was a native of Alcorn County and a lifelong and active member of Box Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a most generous spirit especially with her church and was always helping others. She retired from Itt Telecomm and was a prior associate of Weaver Pants Company.
Services were at the McPeters Chapel with burial in the Box Chapel Cemetery. McPeters Funeral Directors was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included two sons, Donald Ray Brooks (Judy) and Robert “Buster” Brooks; three daughters, Betty B. Elam (Kenneth), Faye Brooks and Jamie B. Patrick, all of Corinth; five grandchildren, Kim Elam Sallis, Daniel Roaten, Tricia Tomlinson, Christy Brooks and Brandie Counce; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margaret Kirkland of Lexington, Va.; niece, Laura Shell of Elgin, S.C.; and a special friend, Joyce Price.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Brooks; a son, Billy Wayne Brooks; an infant daughter, Nancy Kay Brooks; a brother, James M. “Bill” Kirkalnd; and her parents, James M. and Ella Mae Kirkland.
