Vincent Anthony Romito, 74, died May 30, 2009, at The Sanctuary Hospice House. A native of New York, he was born Sept. 6, 1934, to Vincent and Philomena Rizzetta Romito. He was a career U.S. Navy veteran and served in Korea and Vietnam, retiring after 35 years. He moved to Tupelo in 2001. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Services were at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with burial with full military honors in Corinth National Cemetery.
Survivors included his wife of 54 years, Doris Romito of Tupelo; one brother, Anthoney Romito (Catherine) of New York; three sisters-in-law, Olita Romito of New York, Linda Paden (Elkin) of Tilden and Lucy Priest of Blue Springs; one brother-in-law, Buddy Priest (Betty) of Blue Springs; his two nephews, Matthew Romito and Anthony Romito of New York; niece, Laura Fusalo of New York; his caregivers, Sid and Sandy Russell of Pontotoc; several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Matthew Romito; a niece, Suzanne Romito; and a nephew, James Romito.
