I found the following notation in a book called "The Passports of Southeastern Pioneers, 1770-1823" Thomas Crittondon, Jeremiah Day & John Austin with their families consisting of twenty two persons on Board a flat Bottomed Boat, have permission to descend the River Tennessee & the other waters lying in their way to Natchez, they conducting with propriery & conforming to the Laws and regualtions adopted to the Government of the Indian Department So. West point 22 May 1803 Signed Return J. Meigs. I believe these pioneers settled in St Helena Parish Louisiana and Amite, MS.
My gggg grandfather was Jeremiah Day ( not the one mentioned in this passport). He was born in 1803 in LA and married Frances Hart from Mississippi. Their first 2 children were born in MS before moving to TX about 1835. I am trying to find the connection between my ancestor Jeremiah Day and the Jeremiah Day mentioned in the passport.
