i am looking for information on the knoxes of amite county. rebecca cox married stevenson knox and had several children. they were slaves, and the exact owners are not known at this time, but some of the children were buried in the knox cemetery in amite county. as rebecca took the name cox, i assume that she was owned by a cox in the area. perhaps some coxes and knoxes married and that led to this name issue. if you have any informtion, i would greatly like to hear about it.
