Fellow Amite Co., MS Genealogists:
I know from several years of research that many counties have volumes of early county deaths that are in a book or books in the county courthouse. Oftentimes deaths not registered at the state level may still appear in these books. Does anyone know if such volumes exist for Amite County, MS? I am searching for a death for Janette Scott White Abney (she alternated using the white and Abney surnames on census records so could be under either name. She died in Amite county, MS on 15 JAN 1918 and is buried at Amite River Church. I would like to find a register/record of her death either at the state level (does anyone have the index of MS deaths or access to it?) or county level. I'd also like to know where the Amite River Church is located--what town/city??
