Croft / Craft / Webb land patents in mid 1800s in Attala

The records below show that Micajah Webb settled in Township 16 of Attala County, Ms. That means that he was within five or six miles of his sister Frances Clark, who was in Township 15.

Note also that Frederick Craft settled near Micajah Webb in 1848. Margaret Croft also had land there. This was also where John B. Webb had land.

I suspect that Frederick Craft is the William Croft buried near James G. Clark and Frances Webb Clark at the Bethel cemetery in township 15.

William Croft
Born April 8, 1808 -- Died June 20, 1850

That would mean that the full name of William Croft was William Frederick Croft. I think that is evidence that he was the son of John Frederick Croft, Jr., of Greenville County, S.C.

The Bible records of R.B. Webb indicate that John B. Webb, his brother married Sarah F. Croft in 1853.

The 1860 census shows John B. Webb and Sarah with their three children. Son James is the James Warren Webb buried in Cecil Chapel Cemetery of Polk County, Arkansas. Note that John and Sarah live next to a Croft family. This raises the question -- was Sarah Croft the daughter of Martha Croft or Margaret Croft? Sarah Croft Webb named her last child Martha.
