Does anyone have info on the Illinois Central railroad's offering land to German families in Illinois if they would move to Bolivar Co? Many of my ancestors moved from Shelby Co., IL to Shelby, MS around the turn of the century. My dad was told that the railroad offered them land so they came down and opened stores and farmed. A large group of Germans came down by the last names of Agner, Spath, Gemmer, Mueller (Miller), and Rudig. I'd love to be able to verify this story and also get info on any of these families and where their descendants ended up. Thanks, Ann
