Old Emory Post Office--Holmes Co. or Carroll Co.?

I am told on good authority that listings found in the 1860 Census for local residents of the "Emory Post Office" indicate the Census as having been in Carroll Co., MS. My understanding has always been that Emory was close to West, MS, and just below the County Line and therefore in Holmes Co., MS. Can any of the local experts help me out on this issue?
