I've hunted & hunted for my grandparents Marriage record. He was a Knight from TN & she was Chevis Beaty Buchanan (b. March 1893), daughter of Ed Buchanan, from Chickasaw Cnty. Would have been somewhere around 1915/1916.
I have found him in the Civilian Registry listed with his correct birthdate but he's given his name as "General" Knight. His true name was Captain Luck Knight but he told Grandmaw his name was Grover Clyde Knight. His death certificate from Texas says Charlie G. Knight. Needless to say...... Ol' Grandpappy was a 'rounder'.
The change in name is what makes it so difficult. Daddy (Clyde Edwin Knight) was born in Starkville on Feb 14, 1916. He was their oldest child of 6.
Any help out there would be geatly appreciated!! Any suggestions or special look-ups I need to locate??
