Hello. I realize your post is dated; hoping you still check this board.

My maternal gr gr grandfather: Alexander Young born Clarke County Mississippi. Migrated to Mobile and married Maria Busby (also from Clarke County Mississippi)

Alexander was the son of Green Young and Sarah(do not have maiden name) I find land records from 1842 there in Clarke County Ala. in 1860 Census for Clarke Co. Green Young shows as 53 out of Quitman.
Alexander Young joined Capt. A. C. Steede's cavalry company in Jackson County MS, just a short distance from his home. He was elected a lieutenant in this company (which became part of Steede's 17th Miss. Battn.) and served through the war. The company roll also included David, George and William Young.

Alexander Young never signed with a middle initial, which differs from other Alex Youngs from Alabama and Mississippi who used a middle initial. AY has two service files, as the 17th Miss. Battalion became part of the 9th Mississippi Cavalry late in the war.

Do you have ANY information on this Young family from Clarke County Mississippi?
