I am also looking for information on one of my ancestors who was in Coahoma Co., MS in 1850. His name is Micajah Newsom. He is on the 1850 census with wife Sarah and one child Mary C.(Line 31 HN & Family # 68). Born 1829 in Alabama. I'm trying to find out if this family is connected to mine. I have a Sarah, married name Newsom, born in 1831 in Alabama. Her children are Benjamin F., born 6 Nov 1850 in MS., Julia E. born 1962 in TX, Mattie born in 68 probably in TX. I don't know about Mary C. who was on the census. I can't verify if this Sarah Newsom and the one on the 1850 Coahoma Co., MS census are one in the same. There are several other Newsom's on the same page as Micajah, one being Caswell, line 13 age 19 born in Alabama. If you're still researching the Newsoms, please let me know if there could be a connection to these Newsoms.
