Addendum to my posting of 16 Oct 2006:

Among the papers in John KINCAID's claims for losses during his service in the Rev. War was this:

1 Sorrel mare lost at Rocky Mount appraised at ---- 48.0.0
1 Gray horse at Genl. Supter's defeat at ------------ 60.0.0
1 do at Friday's Fort at ---------------------------------- 50.0.0
Losses ---------------------------------------------------- 158.0.0

A supporting document in the file:

So Carolina
Camden District

Alex'r Gillespy appraises upon oath a Sorrel mare, the property of John Kincaid at forty eight pounds. Lost in the Public service.
Alexr. Gillespy
Sworn before
Jno. McCaw
J.P.

It seems even more certain that Alexander GILLESPIE migrated with John KINCAID from Cumberland Co., PA to York Co., SC.
