Olive Branch - Jeff Holmes, 56, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008. He was a co-owner of Cougar Chemical Company. Mr. Holmes was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all of those who knew him. Mr. Holmes was preceded in death by his, father and step-mother; Frank and Cora Holmes, and his step-father, J. B. Davis. He is survived by his wife, Denise Holmes; a son, Jeremy and his wife Mandy Holmes; a daughter, Christie and her husband Jason Thomas; his mother, Ola Davis; a sister, Lisa Rumsey, and a grandson, Knox Davis Holmes. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The interment will be in Autumn Woods Memorial Park in Olive Branch, MS.
Southaven - JERRY E. JONES passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 at his home. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 27 from 6-9 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven. Services will be Wednesday, May 28 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Southaven. Jerry was a faithful member of Gracewood Baptist Church in Southaven since February 1993 and a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Brandon, MS from July 1968 until 1993, but returned to visit Bethel over the years since. He served as deacon and also director of ushers, serving on grounds upkeep and building committees. He served in Brotherhood and also attended on several out of state mission trips helping build and repair churches. With a lifetime of 37 years total as a truck driver since 1965, he retired in 2002 serving Consolidated Freightways a total of 21 years of work; 11 years of it in Jackson, MS from 1981-1992 and then in Memphis, TN from 1992-2002. He was also a member of Teamsters from 1975-2002, serving in Jackson, MS and then in Memphis at total of 27 years. Very much beloved, he leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of almost 43 years in marriage, Selma "Judy" Jones of Southaven; three sons, Joey, Stacey, and Johnny Jones, all of Brandon, MS; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Lauren, Peyton, Jacob and Cameron and Tristan of Brandon, MS and Mason Jones White of Puckett, MS; his mother, Willie Jean Crawford of Brandon, MS; two brothers, Wayne Jones of Jackson, MS and Frank Jones of Brandon, MS; one sister, Carolyn Slade of Florence, MS; seven nieces and nephew; and seven great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, J.B. "Ted" Jones of Mendenhall, MS.
