Horn Lake - JAMES MICHAEL COCKRUM, 60, died June 22, 2008. Mr. Cockrum worked as a roofer for Alderson’s Roofing Company. He is survived by his wife, Debra; sons, James Cockrum, Jr. (Kristy) and Robby Hollinger; daughters, Tina Marie Wages (Keith), Mary Hardwick (Richard), and Jessica Whitt (Chris); sisters, Sara Ice (Kenny) and Peggy Cockrum; three grandchildren which include Cayden, who was lovingly known to Mr. Cockrum as “Papaw’s Buddy”; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Ray Cockrum. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Forest Hill South. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill South. Interment will take place in Forest Hill South Cemetery.

Eudora - MIMSWESLEY"Buddy" RAMAGE, 66, born on May 9, 1942 in Vaiden, MS, passed away on June 22, 2008 at his home. Mr. Ramage moved from Vaiden to Eudora in 1954 at the age of 13. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eudora since 1956. Buddy joined the U. S. Army, January 2, 1964 and later re-enlisted to serve a total nine years in the states, Alaska and Germany with a strong devotion to duty and his country. Among his assignments after warhead and missile training in Spokane, WA were Section Chief of Launcher Control at the Hercules Missile site in Ft. Wainswright Alaska and as drill sergeant. Buddy received numerous awards and medals during his service which included two Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service, and Expert M14. Buddy worked for Alumax in Hernando and later formed his own plumbing company, Ramage Plumbing. He last worked for Marieeta, Inc., Olive Branch, MS for 19 years before retiring in 2005. Buddy was a very loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His hobbies usually surrounded his family-some of which were square dancing, fishing, camping, boating, skiing, and 4 wheeler riding. He also enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his wife and friends throughout the states, Hawaii and Canada. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ethel Ramage; daughter, Fran Jendras; granddaughter, Magen Jendras and sister, Mary Annell Martin. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry Lee "Sonny" Ramage, James Robert Ramage and Sammie Ramage, and his parents, Maggie Mae and James Henry Ramage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, and the service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, both at Hernando Funeral Home. Interment will be in Eudora Cemetery.
Southaven - NANCY SIMMONS, 82, homemaker, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto in Southaven. Mrs. Simmons was born February 19, 1926 in Gulfport, MS and was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Southaven. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Twin Oaks Funeral Home in Southaven. Mass will be held Wednesday, June 25 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Southaven. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William R. Simmons of Southaven; six sons, Robert (Sue) Simmons of Fresno, CA, William James Simmons, Sr. of Phoenix, AZ, John (Jann) Simmons of Horn Lake, MS, Charles (Allison) Simmons of Winfield, IL, Fred (Tracye) Simmons of Bartlett, TN, and Kenneth (Sherry) Simmons of Southaven; two daughters, Margaret (Mark) Powell of Alexandria, VA and Roberta (Dewey) Spencer of Judsonia, AR; one brother, George Schloegel of Gulfport, MS; three sisters, Henrietta Kincaid of Gulfport, Rosie Parkerson of Gulfport, and Marie Broer of Sacramento, CA; 10 grandchildren, William James Simmons, Jr., Leo Simmons, Marley Simmons, John Thomas Simmons, Joe Simmons, Jake Simmons, Jennifer Bean, Crystal Folse, Stephanie Davidson, and Crossley Simmons; and four great grandchildren, Johnathan Folse, Eathan Folse, Caitlyn Folse, and Tabytha Folse. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. and Nancy Bertucci Schloegel; one grandchild, Patricia Jean Watts, one brother, Joseph Schloegel; one sister, Virgie Wallace; and one son-in-law, John Watts.
