OLIVE BRANCH – D'Aunte "Duke" Payton, 10, died June 23, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto. He was born Jan. 27, 1998, in Fayetteville, N.C., to Tamara Payton Bowen and Shaheed Salaam. He had completed fourth grade at Potts Camp School. He enjoyed watching cartoons, playing video games and drawing.
Services were at the Hernando Road Church of Christ in Holly Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Gardens. Serenity Funeral Home of Holly Springs was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included his mother and stepfather, Tamara Bowen and Osie Jackson of Olive Branch; his grandmother, Sandra Ambrose of Fayetteville, N.C.; his great-grandmother, Rosie Madora Payton of Holly Springs; two brothers, Tavienne Sanders and Anton’e Bowen, both of Olive Branch; one sister, Meltoria Faulkner of Olive Branch; two special great-aunts, Wanda McNeil and Pamela McNeil; his babysitter, Wesley McNeil of Holly Springs.
