Horn Lake - MAXINE DAWSON VonDRASEK went to be with her Savior July 7, 2008. She passed away at Liberty Community Living Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Amite County, July 12, 1919, sixth child of Luther Cleveland Dawson and Allie Bateman Dawson. After finishing high school at Oxford, she taught school at Gillsburg and Oxford. She was the widow of Victor Vincent VonDrasek. Mrs. VonDrasek married Vincent VonDrasek on April 28, 1946. They met at Gillsburg, MS while Vic was on duty with the United States Air Force. At the end of his military service, he returned to Amite County and they were married at New Hope Methodist Protestant Church. They lived in Orifino, Idaho until 1960 when Vic became ill and they moved to Horn Lake, MS. After his death, she continued to live in Horn Lake until March off 2008. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, July 10 at Brown Funeral Home, Gloster, MS. Service to be conducted by nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include Michael, Tim, Eric, Lane, Dawson, David McKey, Donald Byrd. Burial to be in New Hope Methodist Protestant Church, Gloster. Survivors include a sister, Florence Byrd of Petal, MS; three brothers, Lamottis Dawson of Central, LA, Loyd E. and Reta Dawson of Horn Lake and Nelson L. and Elaine Dawson of Liberty, MS; three sisters-in-law, Bobbie Dawson of Slay, MS, Eva Miller Dawson of Jayess, MS and Opal Caston Dawson of Duncanville, TX. Mrs. VonDrasek enjoyed her 12 nieces and 17 nephews. She was especially close to those that were reared near her, Michael and Peggy Dawson of Horn Lake, MS, Tim and Peggy Dawson of Madison, MS, Kay Dawson Horner and Perry of Cleveland, TN and Eric Dawson of Milwaukee, WI.
