Hernando - D. FARROW ELKINS, 78, died July 19, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. He retired from Transcon Freight Line, after 38 years of service. He was a member of Coldwater First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and church bus driver. D was preceded in death by his son, DeWayne Elkins, his mother and father, two brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patsy Elkins; daughter, Judy (Jimmie) Farmer, Hernando; granddaughter, Candance (Norris) Plunkett, Olive Branch; a great grandchild, Parker Plunkett, Olive Branch; and sister, Mary (Tom) Howard, Munford, TN. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, at Forest Hill Funeral Home Midtown. Services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Coldwater First Baptist Church. Olive Branch - VERNICE Y. PRATHER, 99, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008. She was a member of Myrtle Baptist Church. Mrs. Prather, the widow of Albert A. Prather, leaves two sons, Darryl Prather of Southaven, and Morris Prather of Coldwater; a daughter, Sandra Joyce Newberry of Palm Coast, FL; three sisters, Annie Mae Ledbetter, Dorothy Humphrey, both of New Albany, and Thelma Davis of Pasadena, TX; and one granddaughter, Rita L. Ladd of Hernando. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 23 at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Gersum Cemetery in Myrtle, MS.
Byhalia - ELIZABETH L. YOUNKER, 88, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto on Saturday, July 19, 2008. The funeral service will be held 2:30 today, Monday, July 21, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Roy Younker. She is survived by her son; Charles Younker of Olive Branch MS, daughter; Linda Hall of Southaven MS, brother; Wallace Houck and a sister Martha Griffith of Olive Branch MS, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
