Fran,
I have nothing on the Palmer family, so I do not know where my Elizabeth fits. Do you have any Palmers living in Jackson Co, MS or in Georgia counties: Upson, Monroe, Pike, or Oglethorpe? My David Shattles came from there and I was wondering if the Palmers were from that area also.
I was hoping to see if Elizabeth Morehouse could give me any clues since Elizabeth Palmer was living with her before marrying David. Have you come across any Morehouses (Moorhouse)?
Our David Wesley Shattles was "suppose" to have come to the Mississippi Gulf Coast with another family. We don't know if this meant he was "kidnapped" (I don't believe this, tho some family members think so) or maybe he was apprenticed out as a young boy and therefore came with that family when they moved. The John Simmons who witnessed David & Elizabeth's marriage was living in Jackson Co, MS(per 1850 census) with a Larkin Collins who was a miller. I got all excited about that as David was a miller, and was wondering if they were apprentices together. I cannot find David on any 1850 census. We only have him on the 1860 Perry Co, MS census with Elizabeth and the three children. He died in 1864, so that is that. I haven't been able to trace Larkin Collins either.
Thanks for the help. If you come across any info on Elizabeth Palmer, I would appreciate you letting me know.
