Sweetwater Telephone, (Monroe Co. TN) Thursday, June 6, 1907:
"Joseph Rowan Haney, remembered here by our old citizens as “Rowdy” Haney, stopped off on his return from the [Confederate Veteran] Reunion and is the guest of old friends. Mr. Haney’s home is in Hattiesburg, Miss. He left here forty-two years ago, having lived for some years previous to that time on what is now known as the Barb place on Eastanallee. During his visit here he has met quite a number of his old comrades and many interesting reminiscences have been recalled."
