I found this obit for Joseph Connie Bates in an October 1988 issue of the "George County Times". I think it was the Oct. 26 issue.
Services for Joseph Connie Bates, age 71, were held Oct. 24 at the Howell Baptist Church. A native of George County, he died October 22, at the George County Hospital after a long illness.
He is survived by his wife Essie Lee Dossett Bates; 2 sons, Jerald E. Bates and Cecil E. Bates, of Oregon; 2 daughers Joe Ann Powell, of Minn. and Gloria Jean Coleman of Oregon.
He was interred in the Howell Cemetery.
I found the one for his second wife as well in an October 1992 issue.
Services for Essie Lee Dossett Bates, age 71, were held Oct. 27 at Howell Baptist Church. She died Oct 25 in Mobile, AL,after an extended illness. She was a retired clerk and native of George Co., MS.
She is survived by one son, Joe Dossett and one sister, Gola Mae Dossett.
