On the 1850 Census of Holmes Co. MS, there was a George E. Young b. 1813 d. 1895 MS, his tombstone in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Lexington says he was born in Orange Co., VA. Wife Julia 1810 SC - 1883. Children: Martha, Andrew, Jane, Susan, William L. (Lafayette?) and Emily. I believe that this William L. was the "Lafayette Young" who was executor of the will of my 3rd Great grandmother, Ann H. Young b.1813 Orange Co., VA who m. William Proctor. Also in Holmes Co., was a Walter Young b. 1817 VA a carpenter living in the household with William Herndon b.c.1816and wife Lucy b. c. 1822 (maiden name Young d/o Daniel Young according to marriage record in Orange Co. VA) both born VA. Ann had a sister (or possibly cousin) named Emily Young, same as George E's daughter. Emily m. Julius Mayo and had a son Julius. After Julius’ death, she m. P. Clancy. She is buried next to Ann H. Young Proctor (marriage record says d/o Daniel Young) and William Proctor. The tombstones of Ann, William and Emily say “born Orange County, VA” as does George’s above. Ann & William’s son James Malcom Proctor 1845 VA- 1866 was in the Civil War and died shortly after. His tombstone says “Born Madison Co., VA”. Ann and Emily both left wills. Ann’s leaves everything to her husband for his lifetime, then to daughter Columbia “Lummie” Rathell. This must have meant that she owned property in her own right, possibly an inheritance. I am trying to find out if either of these are brothers of my Ann H. Young and if so does anyone have further information on these families. Thanks, Betty Notify Administrator about this message?
