Dixie -

Thanks so much for the information you sent me. It helps alot. I have found that the Dave Beaty b. 1836 is actually the same one as my gg grandfather. We were given misinformation as to his actual birth year. Had he been born in 1848, he would have only been 12 or 13 years old at the time the Civil War started and would not have been allowed to enlist in Holmes County as a part of DJ Red's Red Rebels. My gg grandfather, however, did enlist in the Red Rebels in Holmes County. So, after many years of researching, my brick wall has finally started tumbling down! And I have disproved (or so I think) the family story of his mother being full blooded Cherokee - because if she was born in Mississippi as it looks like she was, it is more likely she was Choctaw if she had any Native American blood in her at all.

Again, thanks so much for the information. It has been a very big help! If you happen to come across anything else, please feel free to contact me at my personal email (cheyenne_143@msn.com).
Linda
