Tupelo - Roy V. Savage, 88, died July 15, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. A native of Itawamba County, he was born Nov. 14, 1919, to E.E. and Ann Earnest Savage. He graduated from Tupelo High School before attending electrical school. He was an electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for over 50 years. His work required him to travel to Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida before returning home to Mississippi in 1983 at his retirement. During the years he spent in California, he was active in Boy Scouts and taught Sunday School and Training Union. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an active and faithful member of Harrisburg Baptist Church since 1983.
A memorial service was held July 18 at Harrisburg Baptist Church with W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors in charge.
Survivors included his wife of 64 years, Avinell Savage of Tupelo; three brothers-in-law, Neal Houston (Nellie), Lee Bennett (Mildred) and Clyde Bennett (Mildred); one sister-in-law, Jean Savage; many nieces and nephews including Peggy Ryan, Jane Goff, Joe, Jim and Phil McCoy, Debbie Crawford, David Bennett, Danny Bennett and Tim Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul A. Savage; and a sister, Sue Savage Beard.
