Funeral services for Joseph Pearce Robinson, 75, of Tremont, Rt. 3, were held Oct. 9, 1956 at the Liberty Church with burial in the Liberty Cemetery with Senter Funeral Home in charge. Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside by the members of the Smithville Masonic Lodge Number 548. He was a member of the Smithville Masonic Lodge and was also a member of the Liberty Church. Death came at 12:30 on the morning of Oct. 8th at the Itawamba County Hospital from a stroke which the deceased suffered three days before. He had been in failing health for four years. He was born in Clay County, Alabama, but had lived at Tremont for 12 years where he was a farmer.
Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Robinson of Tremont; five sons, Davis Robinson of Calhoun City, Miss., Manoh Robinson of Tremont, Nolan Robinson of Tremont, Milford Robinson of Tremont, and Franklin Robinson of Tremont; four daughters, Mrs. Rosie Fay Hamilton of Osceola, Georgia, Miss Mary Alice Robinson of Tremont, Mrs. Pertha Sallis of Zion, Ill., and Mrs. Jewel Kramer of St. Charles, Mo.; five brothers, O. O. Robinson of Smithville, Jim Robinson of East Tupelo, Edgar Robinson of Smithville, Dee Robinson of Piedmont, Ala., and Ether Robinson; three sisters, Mrs. Della Prestage of Meridian, Mrs. Lena Prestage of Aberdeen and Miss Lula Robinson of Smithville.
