Funeral services for Mrs. M. E. Pierce were held at Liberty Grove on April 23, 1948. Mrs. Pierce died April 21 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Satterwhite of Bexar, Ala. The widow of the late Matt Pierce, she was one of the most beloved women of her community and lived close to the tenets of her faith. She had been a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for a number of years. She leaves 13 children and 92 grand and great grandchildren. Nabors Brothers of Smithville were in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were: Roy Cummings, A. E. West, Cletus Summerford, Vester Leech and Early Wright.
