Was there a boarding house or home for male workers of some sort in Itawamba County in 1860? In the 1860 census I found a list of men in the same household ranging from age 20 to 50, none have the same surname. Included are as follows:
Issac Whitesides 42
John Williams 40
William Weidmier 26
William Ward 22
John White 25
S. N. Nash 31
John Smith 40
John Rose 32
Charles Odell 33
Michael Riley 50
John Birney 32
William Bent 30
Jno J.D. Degoglin 25
Samuel Hall 25
Daniel Degrow 45
John Dempsey 23

I found this in searching for more information on Samuel R. Hall who had served in the Civil War with my ggggrandfather Alexander Lander Hall. I thought they might be related.
Who are these men and why would they have been in the same household? Did they take census rolls of jails? Could these men have been in jail?????
