Red Bay, Ala. - David L. Hastings, 66, died July 23, 2008, at The Meadows in Fulton. He was born July 3, 1942, in Itawamba County to the Rev. Cliff and Alene Bragg Hastings. He was a brick mason and an artist. He was of the Church of God faith. He was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan and loved football and basketball. He played on the first undefeated football team in Red Bay.
Services were July 25 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Survivors included three daughters, Allison Miller (Nathan) of Golden, Melissa Cox (Steve) of Nettleton and Tamatha Gresham (Brad Coddill) of Tuscumbia, Ala.; two sisters, Joyce Moore Graham of Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Nancy Hastings of Fulton; two brothers, Don Hastings (Nancy) and Charles Hastings (Jean), both of Red Bay; seven grandchildren, LaShanda Wingo (Joey), Brad Miller, Kalynn Miller, Justin Cox, Zac Cox, Leigh Anne Miller and Alyssa Cox; one great-grandchild, Hayden Wingo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bobby Hastings; and one grandchild.
