Shannon - Jessie "Rooster" Conway Jr., 76, died July 20, 2008, at his home. He was born March 15, 1932, to Jessie Conway and Mamie Price Conway. He was a member of Poplar Springs CME Church. He was a member of the senior choir and the male chorus, and a former steward. He was a former member of the Crowns of Harmony. His favorite hobbies were hunting and working with cars.
Services were at Poplar Springs CME Church with burial in the Conway Cemetery. Williams Memorial Funeral Home was in charge.
Survivors included his wife, Isbella Pounds Conway of Shannon; two daughters, Dornetta Glover (Lemont) and Linda Williams of Memphis; Beverly Ashby of Shannon and Angie Ford of Okolona, reared in the home as daughters; three sons, Donald Conway (Valerie) of Shannon, James Lloyd Conway (Debra) of Okolona and Wayne Conway of Memphis; two sisters, Mamie Bailey and Anna Fields of Shannon; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Betty Word of Fulton; three brothers-in-law, Robert Jones Sr. of Shannon, Will Pounds of Nettleton and Clement T. Pounds of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by parents; a brother, Curtis Conway; and four sisters, Vera Stephens, Willie Mae Jones, Nancy Thorston and Ada Ligon.
