I am looking for information re: this family. L.H. Ikerd born 1825 married Emaline Higgenbotham b.1831 in 1946. They had a number of children. Catherine, William, Sarah, John, James, Mary Vicy, Georganne, Thomas, Andrew, and George. Catherine Ikerd married Elias Spradley and had several children before she lost her husband and remarried. She had three more children with her second husband, John Landrum. Their child, Mollie Landrum is my gg.(I've come to the conclusion Mollie is a Landrum and not a Spradley after contact with another great researcher. Thank you. ) Catherine's brother, John Henry Malachi Ikerd married Ellender Landrum and also had several children, including Alabama Ikerd, who married Walter Adolf Seymour. These are my other great grandparents. Lawson aparantly was a member of the Mormon Church in the Jackson MS area for some time. Some researchers say he used the name Lewis, but when he was active in the church he went by Lawson and when he purchased land in the Jackson area, he used the name Lawson. There seem to be several Ikerd families, so it's difficult to say who is who on the census, etc. I am not able to do research in person but am hoping to some in the coming winter months. Hopefully in NC and MS. Any suggestions about where to look, such as which churchs might have info, etc, is appreciated. I hope I posted enough info. The Ikerd website is an incredible resource and I can't tell you how much I apprecatiate it being put together.
