Dear Mark: My uncle was Edward McCarty of Laurel, who was
good friends with Katie McNeil. I have talked to Katie a
time or two a few years ago. She introduced me to a McCarty genealogist, Wanda Blanche Barnes of Maryland. They met at Bay Springs while making copies of genealogy
materials. I got a lot of McCarty ancestors from Wanda.
I wanted to meet Katie but procrastinated and never got to
meet her in person. She was a wonderful and well-liked
person. Now, she and Ed are both deceased. A Mr. Windham
from Metaire, LA, had given me some info on the family a few years ago. Dau. Karen was probably still in MS; Betsi
was then in CA; Loraine was in Georgia...as Mr. Windham
recalled. He also mentioned you as Katie's brother.
I do not want to seem to make a big deal of this contact w/
me by the Carneys. I just do not want Katie's children
blindsided, in case that was the future case.

PS: My brother lives in Laurel and is elder of First
Presbyterian Church, as I recall. I have 3 sisters living
there..out hwy 84 at Calhoun, MS. So you will not think I
fell out of the sky.
I received an email from a party in MO who had seen one of
my Katie McNeil emails and asked for her pic in the Jasper
Co. Cemetery Book. The wife was Pam (said to have been
Kathryn Renee (no maiden name), who was put out for adoption in 1949. Pam said she was born December 1947.
If she is indeed a dau. of Katie McNeil, Katie would have
been about 21 at her birth. This is all that I know at this time.
I emailed them a pic of Katie from the Jasper Co. Cem. Book. Which she could have gotten from the library. I did
want to tell Katie's children in case Pam gets in touch with one of them in the future. He adoptive parents are
deceased, they said. Pam's husband is Bill Carney. I think that I am correct in the name given was Kathryn Renee
for Pam, (no maiden name) but I will check it out and let you know.
I do not know who wrote the email as it is signed Bill and
Pam. If you want a copy of the email, I will forward it to
you.
