Charles, you mentioned that Lafayette Co. has old newspapers going back to the 1800's.
Can you tell me if any of those old papers printed names of
soldiers from their area who were killed in the War?
My Ggrandfather, A.C. VANCE married in Lafayette Co. in 1853. He was in the 22nd MS Inf. Reg. and either wounded or died on or about May 6th 1862, after Shiloh. Old records say, 'died at Shiloh.' I've never found where he is buried and wondered if the papers might have mentioned anything about any soldiers from the area. Thank you for any information.
